Apple iPod

The Apple iPod is a portable mp3 player and hard drive initially available with storage capacities of 20/40GB, and supports the AAC/MP3/WAV file formats. Apple has come up with variations of the iPod since its inception. The model that sold like hotcakes was the iPod Mini, which Apple had a hard time keeping on the shelves ever since it came out in the market. It seems Apple hit the nail on the head with the iPod Mini-it's sleek, sexy and full of style.

However, Apple is a company on the move these days, and almost as fast as the first Mini hit the street, Apple has updated it. As hard-drive-based players have gotten smaller and the price of flash-based players has dropped, Apple seized on the opportunity to dive into the flash-based market with the iPod shuffle. However, it wasn't such a hit like the Mini, mainly because it lacked a screen and sophisticated controls.

The next best thing to do was for Apple to merge the small size of the Shuffle and the versatility of the regular iPod. Just when music aficionados thought it couldn't get any better, Apple launches the iPod Nano. It's a more miniature version of the Mini and the display is in color. The iPod nano slips effortlessly into the coin pocket on a pair of women's jeans, with room to spare. Certainly, it makes the "thousand songs right in your pocket" example a reality.
